This region of the Sahara is the heartland of the nomadic Tuareg. Born with “sand in their blood” the Tuareg have expertly navigated this vast landscape for centuries, intimately familiar with the desert and in total harmony with the harshest of its elements.

Our private wild camps will immerse you fully into the rhythms of desert life. Our set up includes Bedouin-style camping in 1-and 2-person cotton canvas tents which are fully equipped for sleeping, a private outdoor washroom, and an area for your relaxation set up in traditional Tuareg style.
We typically move camp every 1-2 nights, taking you to some of the most spectacular corners of the Tadrart. During your trip you will camp amongst fiery sand dunes, in spectacular wadi’s and tucked in between beautiful desert mountains. Meals are prepared for you daily by our Tuareg guides using fresh and local ingredients from nearby Oasis towns.
Prices are dependent on the exact itinerary, duration, and number of travelers.
Please reach out if you are interested in our Deep Sahara expeditions, so we may provide you with a quote based on your travel preferences. To minimize our impact on the Sahara’s delicate ecosystem and to ensure an authentic and intimate experience for our guests, we take a maximum of 10 people per private group.
Seven days is the minimum trip duration we offer for the Tadrart, although ten days is an ideal amount of time to truly explore what this region has to offer.
For those wishing to venture deeper into the Tassili N’ajjer we recommend a two-week itinerary.
The best time to visit the Algerian Sahara is between October and April.
During summer months the desert is too hot to travel comfortably.
We will arrange all aspects of your travel while you are in Algeria, including internal flights from Algiers to Southern Algeria, your desert expedition, and any additional nights spent in Algiers before or when returning from the Sahara.
Our Sahara trips are managed by a Röam expedition specialist who will accompany you to the Sahara, and who works closely with our local guides and drivers during the trip. Visas are acquired through your nearest Algerian Embassy. We will facilitate invitation letters to support the process. Algerian visa processing can take some time, so we advise beginning the process 6-8 weeks prior to your planned travel dates.
The Algerian Sahara is a remote destination, and this means that there may be certain factors beyond our control, even with the most careful of travel planning.
The most common issues we encounter are delays with local airlines. We strive to create enjoyable, safe, and seamless experiences, but we ask that you bear this reality in mind and maintain flexibility and understanding regarding unexpected changes when planning your trip with us.

This part of the Sahara is extremely remote and inaccessible, with very few people or visitors to the area. For this reason, the security situation has remained good, and the region has been largely unaffected by the situation in neighboring countries. There is very little crime in the region, and Tuareg are extremely welcoming to visitors.
